Unlike ACNE that are caused by dysbiosis of BACTERIA, MF is caused by overgrowth of YEAST/ FUNGUS
(the yeast is present on our normal skin flora) that results in inflammation of hair follicle and RESEMBLES acne. But they are totally different!

MF appears as:
1. Monomorphic (same size and shape) 1-2mm papule
2.Appears commonly along hairline, chest, back
3.Absence of whiteheads/blackheads along the area
4.Itchiness (not the only indicator)

Common myth:
Just because your itchy acne (bumpy texture) are not getting any better after you tried several skincare products targeting acne, it DOESN’T mean that you have MF! First, your acne may feel itchy and you may not be treating them with the right product

Compared to ACNE, MF
is actually UNCOMMON unless if you are immunocompromised or overuse of topical/oral antibiotics. Other factors that may aggravate the conditions are those living in a very hot, humid weather, and sweat

A lot of people who SUSPECT themself of having MF avoids using oil, fatty acids, alcohol, etc at all cost in their skincare product because they are theoretically may promote the growth of MF (however, do remember this is a test mostly done in a petri dish). BUT....
Unless if you fall into the above immunocompromised group, you don’t have to worry or chase over the “fungal-acne free” label. Remember that “THE DOSE MAKES THE POISON”, the concentration of the oils and how it is formulated play a major role

Same goes with the oils in your skincare, when you have MF
. You don’t have to stress over ingredients when you’re not at risk.
