Fun fact first. In the show she is a single kid (frankly does anyone have siblings in the show but Di, Jane and Ruby?) while in the book she has a sister, Gertie. And it seems a bit LMM couldn’t decide which will be Anne’s main peer, see no. of mentions

Now first mention of Josie in AoGG always confuses me - it sounds as if she were in fact younger than Anne and Diana... (while Gertie was their age)

But she was of course as malicious as we know her (see here her reaction to Anne’s punishment, compare for example Tillie’s reaction in previous thread)

But it must be said she felt remorseful when Anne fell down from the roof she ordered her on (or at least concerned about her own image in case of Anne’s demise? but no, benefit of doubt, she even visited Anne after)

She is of course envious of Anne...frankly they seem both a bit obsessed about each other (73 mentions? really?)

Now this is strange. She joins the Queens group (Gertie does not) with Anne and Gilbert even if her academic achievements are rather average - now this points against her being younger? Unless she progressed as fast as Anne and Gil but her results deny that...

Her reasons for doing so appear quite ambitious even if her way of communicating it is Pyeish #renewannewithane

She has her uses, though, she can ask difficult questions everyone else fears to ask...

Now this piece is from the concert Anne performed in while Gilbert took Josie to. What’s interesting is book Josie is much less boy-oriented than Ruby or show Josie, she just reaches to Gilbert imho as part of envy/obsession about Anne...

But then in Queens Anne and Josie form some twisted kind of friendship...here Josie somehow tries to give her a kind-ish advice... #renewannewithane

And it was Josie, even if unintentionally (because of course she knew all the gossip), who first inspired in Anne thoughts about university.

Summing up: Mean but could be reluctantly nice. WDYT?

p.s. Last mention of Josie was indirect in Rilla, Anne complained of rheumatism in her leg she broke falling down the roof
