today a homeless man wearing red & black walked up & sat down next to the car in front of me. immediately i knew, that’s Baba Esu. the opener of all roads. one who carries messages & blesses you. Esu is to be appeased first before offering to any other orisha. (thread)
the car in front rolled up their window and ignored him. immediately, i was taken back to an Ifa story Baba told this Sunday. in the story, Orunmila (the one who carries ifa, the second to God, orisha, basically the main man) ..he is suffering. he is poor. he is broke
he feels he has nothing. everyone’s questioning him. how are you suffering? you are the divinity of prophecy. you carry the words of Ifa? you are suffering? The other Babas recommended that Orunmila start scamming his clients as that’s what they were doing+
the Babas said if a client needs a hen, charge them two and keep some for yourself so you can eat. if the ebo (sacrifice) is 157 then charge them double. Orunmila obviously didn’t want to suffer but instead of listening to those Babas, he goes to Ifa. Of course ifa
advises him not to steal from others in order to support himself. Orunmila keeps struggling, everyone turns away from him and Ifa just keeps telling Orunmila, that he’ll be fine & those Babas won’t last long. and they didn’t. day by day, one by one, they were exposed
yet even though they were exposed, Orunmila was still suffering. He didn’t gain from it, no clients ran to him. he still felt broke. So Orunmila goes back to Ifa and is like LISTEN, i’m still broke. Ifa tells Orunmila.. okay. even though you are suffering
if anyone comes to your door, let them in and help them with what you do have. Ifa says, “Orunmila you will have a guest come to your home soon. Let them in and treat them well.” Orunmila agrees. Yet days go by and still, no clients. no one comes by for Orunmila.
However, In the heavenly realm, someone named Ire was being directed and prepared to be sent down to Earth. Ire is blessings, fortune.. prosperity. Ire was prepared to come down to Earth and as Ire descended, she was dressed in raggedy clothing+
she had nothing, no money, nowhere to stay, and she carried a large sack with her everywhere. Ire was homeless and looking for somewhere to go. So ire went knocking... door to door, asking to stay with the owners of each home.
each person slammed the door on Ire, telling her to shoo. they looked at her as though she had nothing to offer. so she kept going. one day Ire walked up to Orunmilas door. when the homeless lady showed up, Orunmila remembered what Ifa said and allowed Ire to come in.
Orunmila gave her everything she needed. gave her food, new clothes, let her shower, and stay just as Ifa said. when she was all cleaned up, Ire turned to orunmila and said “i am not what i seem. i am not what i appear to be. i have much more to offer than you’d expect”
Ire opened her sack and in her sack was blessings, prosperity and abundance. all for Orunmila. Ire offered the blessings to Orunmila and from then on, Orunmila lived well.
i love this story. Ire, blessings. blessings that come in disguise.

blessings may not always be as you expect. you may suffer for a minute before you receive them but as long as you walk with good character, you will prosper.
if you don’t have anything else material, but you have good character, then those blessings will find you. some things you may look at and deem unworthy or invaluable by societies standards are actually things worth pursuing. walk in your own path and use your own mind.
when i gave the man money, he smiled, thanked me, & even tho he just walked up not even 5 minutes before, after i gave him the money, he got up and walked away. I looked down at my phone and 4:44 was on the screen.
keep giving your offerings and sacrifices. it is those things that Esu blesses in order to clear the way for you to reach bigger and better.
