Why would Capital or “Markets” select for Truth?

The Liberal conception of Truth is that it is the “prevailing market consensus”— this is why we “trust the prevailing market consensus”— but obviously, many lies are more amenable to social consensus than the truth is.

The anti “woke capital” ists who still think Markets select for Truth, believe that it’s just “those overly-socialized nuts who ruin a possible Truth Consensus”— market saboteurs, an informal cabal of “theocrats,” etc.

However— this was all answered long ago— by a guy named Jesus— who showed that markets actually select for Barrabas & scapegoat Truth in order to arrive at a consensus. The Market actually *destroys* Truth — because it kicks the coin changers from the Temple.

The rule of Truth is ever “in the next world”— because it doesn’t last long on Earth— the Market destroys Truth in the short term, but the Truth beats the Market in Eternity.

You can approximate the rule of truth by eliminating the need for social consensus— this is called “the mandate of heaven”— & it functions so long as the Sovereign rewards Truth & punishes Lies. By altering incentive structures to these— you can reign almost eternally.

Han Fei was right— there is no “procedure” without a physical embodiment of a unitary enforcer of procedure— “market consensus” does not police itself to accord with Truth— it, again, actively selects against Truth, scapegoats it, & furnishes itself with lies & mysteries.

The Rule of Truth cannot be accomplished without an Absolute Sovereign— because any other node of Power would have incentives other than truth— only the absolute sovereign is interested in truth.

Truth in Power is the Platonic Ideal of Statesmanship. Even in our folk mythology, God King Sage George Washington or Honest Abe “never told a lie”— this was said of King Arthur. We know all of this implicitly. It is itself a Truth beyond market consensus.

The main appeal of becoming the absolute sovereign is that you “get to know the truth”— we don’t have any sovereign because no one involved in the machinations of power knows “the truth”— power is not a means to wisdom for democratic politicians— who are incurious people—

“The Truth” is managed, like the atom bomb— nobody is allowed to collate it into one central knower— it must be compartmentalized & atomized into “facts”— which become the playthings of market actors— “we have these facts, you have those facts, no one has the truth”

“Decentralization” is the worst thing that could happen to the production of truth— Truth is Holistic, Total, not the diaspora of fragmentary facts cast into the wind. Truth is One, not Few or Many.

Any civil servant should forfeit the right to lie— any proven lie should be met with punishments. Let the commoners lie if it pleases them.
