thank u straight woman for deciding who can and can't tell our stories we are in ur debt
this entire 'debate' has been framed in a way that benefits straight people anyway

*can* straight actors play gay roles? yes, of course they can. that's all we've had for decades. but *should* they?

in the year of our lord 2021 i say, no, they fucking should not
call me by your name. brokeback mountain. god's own country. carol. milk. a single man. the imitation game. philadelphia. need i go on?

for decades our stories have almost exclusively been told by straight people

because apparently the acting industry has no queer people?
it's a sin is one of the most powerful, painful and beautiful stories i've ever seen on screen. i cried during every episode

is part of that down to the fact its our own community telling the heartbreaking story of our collective grief during our darkest days? yeah, probably
tl;dr: russell is right, i am right, it's a sin is great, watch it when it's out, being gay is great, goodnight and goodbye x
