Lots of talk about dungeon ramps lately. So, the thing about escapism in RPGs & in #dnd in particular. Lots of people play D&D to escape the BS of the real world and to do things we would not be able to do otherwise. I get that. I think a lot of #ttrpg fans are like that

What does this have to do with dungeon ramps in #dnd ? A disabled friend said it to me like this: They don’t want to escape from their disability. They want to be able to do cool stuff and kick monster ass even WITH their disability; THAT’S the escapism for them.

My disabled friend wants to be basically as they are & STILL do awesome #dnd fantasy stuff, same as a non-disabled person. From that point of view, I understand the desire to have the game put elements to support that right into the design.

Please note that putting elements that increase accessibility into the game design does NOT remove the fun of a person who doesn't need those elements. #dnd isn't some pie that runs out if we accidentally give disabled folks a large piece of it. The Pie keeps coming, folks!
