@IsPhlyHoney goes to donate blood, after her blood is collected it will be separated into different components. These include Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC), fresh frozen plasma and platelets. The PRBC are the ones we use during emergency settings after a patient has lost a lot of blood. We can talk about uses of other components another day. PRBC have a shelf life of 42 days. Even inside our bodies the PRBC circulate for 120 days then replaced by new ones.
A person can donate blood for themselves or their loved ones prior to an operation within those days. The service is available in Marina hospital 🏥. We encourage expectant mothers to donate blood for themselves a few weeks prior to delivery to help in case of emergency.
