On this day in 1921 Ted McDonald made his international debut for Australia.
His entire test career fitted into one calendar year (1921).
He took 43wks in his test career, can't see anyone come who even come close to him with such short career.

McDonald along with Gregory formed the first great fast-bowling combination in Test cricket history but they never took the second new ball together.
McDonald's speed was complemented by an ability to move the ball both way.

He twice dismissed batsmen by breaking their bats. At Leeds, he broke Ducat's bat, and the broken part hit the stumps while the ball was caught by Gregory, and the batsman was given out caught.

McDonald ended his Australian career to play in English pitches that he had found more responsive.
He played in Lancashire League in 1922 and had highly successful career with the county in 1924-31. When he retired McDonald had taken 1053 wickets for Lancashire.

McDonald died at the age of 46, when his car collided with another near Bolton, England, on the morning of 22 July 1937.
