Important concept that I learned from @nomadcapitalist: Geo-arbitrage.

AKA

How to live like James Bond (with all the guns and the women).

THREAD
A lot of people are trying to escape to the West.

We've all seen the overcrowded migrant boats of Africans and Middle Easterners trying to go to Europe.

Why?

Better life they'll say.

AKA economic opportunity, better schools, etc.
My family and I came to the US from Egypt for that very reason.

And all of us migrants were absolutely right.

There are TONS of economic opportunity here.

Public schools, despite all the crap people give them, are excellent compared to 3rd world schools (I've seen both)
BUT

The West isn't perfect.

America's streets aren't paved with gold like some of us thought.

You have to work. A lot. The US has a workaholic culture.

Family ties and communities in general are a lot weaker.

It's very lonely.

There are lots of other problems.
What makes the West great for work and economic opportunity makes it suck for relaxation, community, etc.

And what makes tropical/3rd world/"undeveloped" countries great for vacations, relaxation, etc. makes them SUCK for work. The whole culture conspires against you.
And so when you have your life all in one place, you have a dilemma. You have to choose one of,

1. Poor country but relaxed
2. Rich country but stressed

But what if you didn't have to choose?

Why can't you be rich and relaxed?
This is where Geo-arbitrage comes in.

Why don't you make your money in the West? While living on a tropical beach in Brazil? And getting very high quality yet cheap healthcare in Malaysia?

You basically pick and choose the best parts to create a lifestyle not even kings enjoy.
So what is the actionable advice here?

- Go read @nomadcapitalist's blog. He goes deep into this stuff.
- Be open to the idea of having your life in multiple places: Swiss bank account, Bali beach, UK business, etc.

I am hoping to create such a lifestyle for myself one day.
