This happened on this day last year. What has changed, if anything? Not much. 31 a day are still dying. Access to specialist nurses for secondary breast cancer, especially in the devolved nations is non-existent. Drug lines still getting in the way of much needed treatment. https://twitter.com/breastcancernow/status/1218114105502064642
COVID-19 certainly hasn’t hade things easier, if anything, the virus has pulled resources to deal with it from cancer services & operations as well as treatment has stopped for some. Not good at all. We are literally dying for a cure here.
The charity, @BreastCancerNow, launched their #Unsurvivors campaign back in 2019 to highlight the plight of us with secondary breast cancer. What has happened? Again, not much. Glacial impact on any policy changes that benefit us in a dramatic way. https://twitter.com/breastcancernow/status/1182627405438976001
In fact, a lot of the identifying women in this campaign have sadly died, with only @JoanneMyatt25 dying last month. We are literally dying for a cure. Dying for significant change. The time for talking is over. Dramatic & significant action is needed. Demanded. Wanted.
It’s good that we have the likes of @craig4nwarks leading the @APPGBC we can go to in order to have that connection in Parliament, as well as @Jochurchill4 as Cancer Minister, but a lot has been said but not done or implemented. WE CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER! WE WON’T!
Since last year, I’ve moved from having Perjeta & Herceptin, which stopped working on my brain mets, to having Kadcyla & Herceptin. My 2nd treatment is later today at @royalmarsdenNHS. Grateful that I can have the treatment, always.
31 people a day. 11,500 people a year. Those are people’s lives. Friends. Families. Colleagues. Workers. Loved ones. All so unnecessary.
