Lmao yall wanna know some fucked up shit I just realized——-

Another generation of Black folks are now having to warn each other to stay in doors due to racist terrorism like our parents and grandparents had to during Jim Crow and the height of the Ku Klux Klan.
Like its crazy to think—-in 2008 I legitimately thought these uprisings would be a relic of the past, an America we once knew but grew away from—-amazing the how the ignorance of youth gives you so much hope.
Im not saying that i’ve lost hope but what I’m saying is that I am grateful to be so comfortable in my Black skin at this moment because folks my age who are not, will have a hard time dealing with what we’re about to face in this country.
I was embedded in Black principle from birth. Although my father is Bi-racial (Black and Italian), my mother would not allow white dolls in my house. She went out of her way to find me deep brown Black dolls as well as a litney of other toys—but Black dolls were demand.
My mother and I used to take trips to the Dusable Museum, the first time I saw chains and cuffs worn by my enslaved ancestors I was about maybe 6 or 7 years old. Those images are still embedded in my psyche till this day—
I hung out a lot with my great grandmother (Big Momma bka the GOAT ALMA) a 5’11 deep dark brown power house hailing from Renova Mississippi—-she was the eldest of the sisters. Big Momma used to carry her pistol in her pocketbook to church I never questioned her motives
Big Momma was fair, warm, and firm. I used to sleep in her bed she kept kit kats in the cherrywood chest of drawers next to her church hats (don’t you dare bend Big Mommas muthafuckin Church hats)
Rumor is that Big Momma fell in love with a White Man, a farmer but because of the time, their love couldn’t be, she eventually made her way to the north with my granddad Big Chuck was a smooth guy—-
Granddaddy was forced to leave Mississippi because the klan threatened to kill him as a child—-he was a little Black boy who came into contact with White Men—-Big Momma didn’t fuck around and sent him to Chicago to live with Aunt Margie.
Emmett Till was only 4 years younger than Granddaddy, he wasn’t so lucky unfortunately—-Granddaddy would grow up to becoming a Bio Chemist and the first Black president of a private industry council in the State of Illinois—Reagan commended him for his service—
Granddaddy passed away in 2007, a year and 16 days before the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Granddaddy would have been elated—-I was elated for him.
12 years later—-we’re arriving at this moment again—-protesting the lynching and fighting for the legitimacy of our votes—-so many Black folks died for our right to vote in this country—-so much fucking blood has been shed.
Oh I forgot to mention, Big Momma did not like folks playing in ha mfkin BLINDS okay I used to get in trouble for opening them blinds tf at night I never understood why my family was so big on blinds until Trump got elected——-
The reason for the obsession blinds? To keep muthafuckas from knowing there are Black folks living in the house—-but to be given an opportunity to peek out quickly and discreet incase folks were coming
This trauma is so deeply rooted in all Black Americans that all we have is our communal ties——we’re back to warning our neighbors to close the blinds at night—-in fear of fire bombs and burning crosses on our lawns——
I know that we’re only experiencing a fraction of what Big Momma n nem went through but the fact that so many died and we’re still here—-dealing with this shit even on a small scale—-is a testament to the failure of the Great American Experiment.
It’s time for real change——-we cannot go back to yesteryear—-it’s time for America to make a choice—-or may it be doomed to fall like many an empire before its time—-Ase’
