Let's talk about antifascism and what we can be doing right now as everyday antifascists in the face of the #CoupAttempt and the ongoing aftermath.
Like many who are more knowledgeable, I think it's likely we will at least see sporadic terrorist violence, and possibly worse.

An indigenous-led group called The Warriors / The Hate Trackers has issued this warning & I think it's a pretty sensible one. Let's be prepared for the worst case scenarios and hope for the best.

As @MsKellyMHayes and others have pointed out, in addition to the forces of fascism, we're also facing a pandemic including a new more virulent strain that's probably becoming dominant in the US. #COVID19 #CoupAttempt
While I'm all about confronting fascists wherever they meet, it's hard to know where and how we would do so, in the numbers necessary to protect ourselves. And hard to say whether that's worthwhile in this moment, with such an unpredictable, active fascist enemy. #AntiFascist
What is necessary is protecting each other & our communities, especially our most vulnerable, during the coming days of uncertainty and danger.

Rather than confronting the fascists in the streets, now might be a time to look for ways to protect our neighbors. How can you protect your local #LGBTQIA community and spaces if needed? Your houseless neighbors? Local members of threatened religious groups? #AntiFascist
If you aren't part of these communities, now may be a good time to reach out to them and their allies, open communications, and share what you know about any fascist activity coming up in your area. #AntiFascist #CoupAttempt
Now is also a time to be forming affinity groups and other networks aimed at helping and protecting each other and our communities. The It Could Happen Here guide upthread outlines many possible roles.
