1/ My husband has been feeling poorly for a few days and decided to go in to be tested for COVID-19.

Instead, we just found out that he has AML: acute myeloid leukemia.

Or I should say, *he* found out. Alone.

They won't let me visit him.

Because of COVID-19.
2/ You probably don't know my husband and for that, I am truly sorry that you haven't met the best man I've ever known. This is a guy who opted to work with COVID-19 patients in the ICU instead of tele-health because he couldn't just sit by and watch. https://twitter.com/AynRandPaulRyan/status/1288111178762223616?s=20
3/3 I could go on and on about how amazing he is, but I'm completely broken. Please spare a thought for my hubs tonight. He went from thinking he might have COVID to getting a bone marrow biopsy, chemotherapy, and a minimum 4-6 week hospital stay within the course of a few hours.
You guys, thank you.

Now if someone could just confiscate my google machine so I stop doom-scrolling through WebMD. 😂

We'll have more info about his prognosis soon.

In the meantime, we have hope and love and that's enough.❤️
5/ I heard from my husband (Darius) this morning.

His night was tough but he so is he.

I can't tell you how angry I am at anti-maskers this morning.

We could have COVID-19 under control by now.

Since we don't, I can't visit my husband in the hospital...
6/ The irony of Darius risking his life to care for COVID-19 patients and then ending up in the hospital for cancer treatment in total isolation because we *still* don't have COVID-19 under control makes me stabby as fuck.

Anyway, I will keep this thread updated with news...
7/ Thanks for asking how I am but honestly, I'm made for this shit. I'm good.

I had my cry when I heard the news and then it was time to get to work. No more crying.

I'm a born caretaker. I've worked in hospice, with Alzheimers patients, in the ER, in long term care...
8/ ...and in pretty much any setting he's about to face.

I've been a patient, too, and spent my fair share of time on oncology floors for treatment and spent many weeks in the ICU on ventilators for brittle asthma, so I know how lonely being in the hospital can feel...
9/ ...and I'm a born researcher, too, so in the last 24 hours, I've learned everything there is to know about AML. Well, "everything" might be an exaggeration but I've learned a lot.

I appreciate all of your comments and DM's. I will try to get to all of them.
9/ Thank goodness for the angel nurses who are caring for him. Thank goodness for the incredible team of doctors who jumped on this *fast* to get it under control.

More soon.

Love to you all.

Please be kind to one another today and tell someone you love them.❤️
