Extortionate rents make it difficult to save for a deposit, while the failure of successive Governments - red and blue - to build enough homes has pushed prices above what many can afford.

This is not just a moral problem, but a political one too.
Homeowners are significantly more likely to vote Conservative than renters, and with young people increasingly turning their backs on the party, we need bold solutions to win back their votes.
