(A James #Harden & Houston #Rockets Timeline/Thread)

2012:
Trade for Harden when he was a 6th man, made him the focal point of the franchise & gave him a max rookie extension immediately

2013:
Sign 7x All-Star & 2nd Team All-NBA player (Dwight Howard) at Harden's request
2015:
Fire 56-win, WFC reaching coach (McHale) at Harden's request only 11 games into the season

2016:
Hire coach hand picked by Harden (D'Antoni), signed FA's best fit to play his style (Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon) did NOT resign star player (Howard) at his request
2017:
Trade 7 players (incl. PatBev, LouWill, Montrezl Harrell) & a 1st rd pick for 9x All-Star/8x All-NBA/9x All-Defense player (Chris Paul) at Harden's request, Signed Harden to another max extension, make WCF again & lose close Game 7 w/o CP3 where Harden goes 2-13 from 3pt
2018:
Resign Paul to max contract, resign starting C (Clint Capela) to 5yr/$90M contract, sign 10x All-Star/6x All-NBA (Carmelo Anthony) as FA at Harden's request

2019:
Trade Paul & four 1st rd picks for 8x All-Star/8x All-NBA/1x MVP (Russell Westbrook) at Harden's request
2020:
Both HC (D'Antoni) & GM (Daryl Morey) leave franchise because of Harden, ownership includes Harden & Westbrook in coaching interview process & got approval of both players in signing of new HC (Stephen Silas), overpaid for ast. (John Lucas) to return at Harden's request
2020:
Westbrook requests trade due to Harden being a diva for 5x All-Star/1x All-Def/1x All-NBA (John Wall) who looks fully recovered from injury, Harden does not report to personal workouts & arrives at training camp three days late & well out of shape because he wanted to party
2020:
Harden wants out of Houston and demands trade, first privately & then essentially publicly

2021:
After 3-6 start, Harden says Rockets are "just not good enough" & that he literally has "done everything that I can" to help the franchise win, team tells Harden to stay away
Make of that what you want, but it tells me, more than anything else, Houston literally did EVERYTHING to keep Harden happy including mortgaging the franchise's future over & over again to "win now" & catering the entire roster to Harden's preferred style of play and skillset
Harden had the opportunity to sign shorter term deals and test free agency, but he chose not to on multiple occasions because he had complete control over the franchise and every roster move was done for him. Now he's stuck in Houston with TWO full years (plus PO) on his deal
This isn't anything close to the AD situation because that deal was expiring. I'm starting to think the #Rockets lack of playoff success is not due to their own inabilities and poor decisions... but maybe because their STAR did not perform on the biggest stage time & time again
If I'm Houston, I'm sending #Harden home FOR GOOD. This team is headed toward a rebuild anyway, so why not force him to sit on his couch for the next two (maybe 3) years and let him waste his own prime & time. Player empowerment has officially gone too far. Time to send a message
