My MCU ranking ( A thread)
23. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Private jets to Europe with multiple high-tech expensive suits funded by daddy Stark feels more like a bond film than a Spider-Man one. Everything that I despised about Homecoming is clearly dialled up to 11 in this film.
22. Thor: Ragnarok

A tale about the destruction of Asgard is turned into a Flash Gordon inspired sitcom. This is marvel exercising their bathos at an extreme level, leaving the film devoid of any emotion.
21. Spider-Man Homecoming

It's dull, safe and completely lacks heart. It reeks of being made by a committee that was just ticking boxes, resulting in a very dispassionate and tone-deaf film. Vulture is the only redeeming quality
20. Avengers Endgame

AKA Fan Service: The Movie. This is what Martin Scorsese was talking about. Endgame is less of a culmination of character arcs throughout the mcu but more of a culmination of fan service moments since the franchise started.
19. Thor: The Dark World

This movie is boring as fuck. It's ranked higher than the previous films simply because at least it doesn't offend me. With that said It's still one of the mcu's most visually pleasing mcu films. Frigga's funeral is the highlight
18. Iron Man 2

It doesn't have the charm of the first film because it's more interested in setting up the Avengers than being its own film. This was the first film to show the detrimental effects of marvel's serialized structure
17. Ant Man and The Wasp

I love that it's wacky and energetic. The low stakes were welcome after coming of Infinity War but it also lacks the charm of the first one. But Michelle Pfeiffer is hot so.....
16. The Incredible Hulk

Remember when the Hulk used to be terrifying? Yeah me too
15. Captain America: Civil War

More like civil scuffle tbh. It's a film that doesn't know what it wants to be. In usual MCU fashion. It doesn't fully commit to the premise it sets and packs more jokes than actual punches.
14. Ant Man

Ant Man has some ambitious moments that are unfortunately overshadowed by the generic mcu formular. Peyton does a decent job but I still wish we had Wright's version
13. Doctor Strange

Basically Iron Man with magic. It has psychedelic effects that take you on an acid trip. It definitely introduces the more interesting elements of the MCU
12. Iron Man

It launched the MCU and set the template for the marvel origin stories and the tone of the franchise as a whole. The magic is in its simplicity, having that same grounded approach as the Nolan Batman films.
11. Thor

I have to say I'm a sucker for Thor. Which is why I am more critical of Ragnarok. I adore how it starts as this epic royal fantasy drama and shifts to this grounded small town comedy.
10. Infinity War

It would probably be higher if it wasn't made by the blandest directors of all time. This is the better half of the culmination of the mcu films. Thanos is the obvious highlight. Josh Brolin portrays a very pitiful and tragic villain.
9. Captain America: The First Avenger

The closest the MCU is ever gonna get to the Raimi films in terms of having heart. It's pulpy, humble and reminiscent of Indiana Jones. I'm just obsessed with the old-fashioned aesthetic.
8. Avengers: Age of Ultron

There's something soulful about Age of Ultron. Whedon clearly cares about the characters. Even though it's a bombastic action movie, Joss is able to let the emotional and thematic beats carry the film.
7. Black Panther.

Although Coogler's vision gets stifled by the studio machine he still manages to produce an engaging, thought-provoking and thematically resonant film. Probably the most important MCU film to date.
6. Iron Man 3.

This is a banger. It's Iron Man at his most vulnerable. For the first time I actually care about Tony as not just a hero but an actual human being. Shane Black's style blends well with the MCU. It's a match made in heaven.
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This is a weird movie because everything that I criticize about the Russo brothers actually works in favour for them here. Such as their drab and concrete aesthetic, which fits the tone perfectly for this spy thriller.
4. Avengers

It's packed with one liners, character beats and memorable moments. This is a cinematic masterpiece of popcorn cinema
3. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel SLAPS! it's a straight banger. I don't care what anyone says. It came at a time when marvel was already bathing in cynicism so it was a nice change of pace. It's pure, sincere and incredibly heartfelt.
2. Guardians of The Galaxy

A film with style and personality, a complete rarity for the MCU but a welcome one. Gunn changed things forever with this film. Other studios and even marvel themselves have been trying to replicate its magic.
1. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2

The only marvel film to almost bring me to tears. You can just feel Gunn's passion through theses characters. It's a standalone adventure and marvel's most emotional offering. This is marvel's magnum opus.
