1. ⬇️ thread. Hopefully not a career killer but to prompt some critical discussion. Certainly it’s not about professions. Delighted to see director of NMAHP Job advertised. I have no ambition for this. I know bigger things are going on. But....... https://jobs.scot.nhs.uk/_results.aspx?catID=9&regionID=4&orgID=&word=
2. Im really disheartened that a directorate job is only open to some people in that directorate. @FionaCMcQueen @Carolyncahpo We’re asked to this critically and creatively yet we continue to limit the talent pool for these roles.
3. In essence the best person for the role in a directorate may not even be eligible to apply. A career in the military and industry before this and never anything like this.
4. I’ve had them pleasure to be managed by some phenomenal nurses. I am humbled to currently mange some nurses in a pandemic. Technical skills have never been an issue. We do the same leadership training and have access to the same HEI opportunities
5. It’s a discussion that need had. I have neither the ambition or the talent for the role. I’m surrounded by nurses and AHP’s that do. For the first time since March I actually feel quite flat that somehow my AHP cohort have less value, less to offer, the same glass ceiling
6, we need to have the conversation to maximise talent to maximise health and well being and staff governance outcomes. So that people who are valued enough to practice autonomously on graduation as first POC practitioners remain valued
7. As AHP’s we need to step up too. We need to broaden our portfolios and responsibilities and our organisational offers to build that chance. I hope when this pandemic is pact through conversation happens.
