Holy heck, this is wild: the Air Force chose Colorado for the Space Command HQ and then Trump overrode that decision and gave the command to Alabama. https://twitter.com/DenverGazette/status/1349425923553157121
From a September 2020 article I wrote about the race to land Space Command:
Cory Gardner campaigned on the fact that he had brought Space Command back home to Colorado. But that campaign statement was lacking nuance, since Colorado Springs had only been selected as the temporary home. Today's news shows the importance of nuance. https://www.westword.com/news/space-command-lands-in-colorado-through-november-election-11711900

The city of Colorado Springs, which is currently the home of the temporary headquarters of Space Command, will be holding a press conference at 2 p.m. today.
Gov. Polis and Lt. Gov. Primavera: "Reports that the in-depth military process found Colorado Springs to be the best location for military readiness and cost and recommended Colorado to the President only to be overruled for politically motivated reasons are deeply concerning."
Polis and Primavera are hinting at the possibility that this decision can be reversed by Biden: "We pledge to work with our federal delegation to restore integrity to the process as it unfolds."
