If soldiers have to sleep in the Capitol, this is civil war.
If Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s panic buttons were all removed from her office before the Capitol was ambushed, this is civil war.
If the military personnel being dispatched to the inauguration have to be screened to ensure they don’t have sympathies with the opposition, this is civil war.
If armed demonstrations are being planned at every state Capitol, this is civil war.
You can call what we’re observing “riots,” protests, or angry parades if you want. But elected officials, police, military officers, and white supremacist civilians coordinating attacks on government is civil war.
If all of what we’ve observed over the past week were happening in any other nation, especially a Black or Brown nation, you would refer to it as civil war and government instability.
People are saying the insurrection was unsuccessful, but I disagree. They proved it could be done, they confirmed they have support already within the Capitol, they emboldened other white supremacists nationwide for further action.
