Very excited about Bitcoinhackers Mastodon. I joined a few days ago, followed some accounts, and made two toots. Last night I logged into a completely deleted account.

The irony is real. As Bitcoiners are fleeing Twitter to Mastodon in order to evade censorship, I was deleted after making these two toots about censorship and free speech.
But due to Mastodon's architecture, it shouldn't be a big deal (right?). I can just download my data and take it to a new server.
Wrong. Unfortunately @nvk deleted all my data, so now I've had to set up a new handle on a new server and start to re-follow accounts.

But each server is governed by a terms of service, right? Here's a link to the bitcoinhackers terms. https://bitcoinhackers.org/terms .
So I'm supposed to be allowed to download my data at anytime. Oops.

This is a great lesson about this new wave of federated social media. Mastodon is awesome, and I am excited to host my own server in the near future to not have to worry about being de-platformed.
