Yes Jack Monroe has done good stuff but the point is that we were fighting hard every day for an end to these humiliating handouts for everyone. Then in the evening we'd come on Twitter & get called extremists, cranks, cultists, same as the far right....
...By people we thought would be on our side. It wasn't that long ago & it was utterly soul-destroying. & now we're supposed to be pathetically grateful that they're taking action to stop food being literally stolen from children, and...
...turn a blind eye to their role in smearing & delegitimising us. Well that's a nope from me.They could just try saying sorry, admit they were wrong, got sucked in, were weak. Then maybe we can "move on" But I've noticed that for the Sensibles sorry seems to be the hardest word.
& this isn't just or even mainly aimed at Jack. I'm a long time admirer & know she does good. But she was one of many blue ticks that relaxed into that warm welcoming bath of Corbyn-hatred, that just wanted to be in with the mean girls, cry bullies, Sensibles,FBPEs & Centrist dads
They wanted to be in the in-group, it's as simple as that. They weren't brave enough to stand with the "cranks". They wanted that make-over and colour supplement double spread.
They all wanted that Guardian column, those sweet Baddiel retweets, the dinner party invites... It takes strength to stay true to your core values. You risk, like Corbyn & the so-called crank left, being made pariahs. I don't care. I'd do it again.
It's like they think they're allowed to say and do anything they like to and about us and yet again as soon as we point out the hypocrisy or make any objection then we're bullies, Stalinists, cultists, cranks, etc. God I'm just never going to meekly accept that. I'm just not.
Just adding, massive respect to Monroe for sharing her heartfelt apology to Corbyn. Takes guts and goodness to admit you were wrong in such a sincere, unequivocal way. Caitlin Moran, a far worse offender, just blocks everyone who challenges her hypocrisy.
