PAOs and PA NCOs have a vital role in the information space more than ever now. Some thoughts:

1. Always stay in your lane. We’ve all learned this one way or the other 😐.

2. Don’t step on other PA teams, no matter what you feel you should say. See rule number 1.

1/
3. Quell misinformation and disinformation with accuracy, brevity and clarity. Don’t go down a rabbit hole.

4. Know when to respond and when not to. See number 3.

5. Inform your boss of the information you’re putting out and the responses you’re getting. They trust you.

2/
6. Flatten comms within your sections. Make sure your entire team is in sync. There’s many good platforms to do this with.

7. Remember Army top line messaging.

8. Stay close with your JAG and when in doubt, consult. Avoid snark that can be misconstrued.

3/
9. If you see members of your unit not line with Army values, putting out misinformation, or worse, let the appropriate ppl know. It doesn’t need to be an online quarrel. There’s other avenues to address these situations with more effectiveness.

4/
10. Don’t burn yourself out. You can’t win the information fight on your own, so don’t try. You’ll only get frustrated and end up saying something you shouldn’t. See number 1.

11. Reach out to other PAOs. We all have different perspectives.
