For the hard of thinking (the not all men brigade)

When we say ‘97% of all violent crime globally is committed by men’

We are not saying ‘97% of all men are violent’

When we say ‘96% of all sexual violence is committed by men’

We are not saying ‘96% of all men are rapists’
Every single time you twist an argument like this, you’re essentially replying to an imaginary point that was never made in the first place, you look stupid and you look like you’re deliberately derailing the conversation

Probably because you are
The thing is, massive stats like this are important for us all to understand human behaviour, crime, justice and psychology.

These stats are reliable, valid, global, and have been accurate for decades, they have barely changed since the 60s.

You can’t keep ignoring them.
Find me another stat that is so obviously ignored or twisted like that of male violence.

As an entire world, we have a responsibility to explore and talk about the impact of male violence on the populations of every country and yet we don’t, do we?

We deny, minimise, ignore.
No one is saying ‘all men are this’ ‘all men do that’

But we can’t even share globally accepted stats without some moron derailing the entire conversation to inform us that ‘not all men are like that’

YES WE KNOW BUT THATS NOT EVEN WHAT WE ARE DISCUSSING DAVE
We have to be able to have sensible & vital conversations about why so much of the violent crime is so likely to be committed by men.

You might not like that convo, it might make you feel uncomfortable but that is tough, and we have bigger things to worry about than feels.
