This Harden/ #Rockets
drama kinda reminds of the Hakeem Olajuwon/Rockets drama from the early 90s.
Like this one, there was a coaching change involved then. Don Chaney was fired, Rudy T was brought in.
Then Dream wanted a new contract, Rockets brass said no.

Unlike Harden, Olajuwon was actually underpaid.
Eventually, Dream hurt his hamstring and missed time.
The Front office, including future UT AD Steve Patterson, thought Olajuwon was faking the injury. That’s really when all hell broke loose.
He demanded to be traded.

Thankfully, he wasn’t. But the key difference in this entire scenario is the player involved in each.
Dream eventually learned to trust his teammates and buy into a system that Rudy T devised.

Also, by all accounts grew as a person. He renewed his faith and found peace.
He remains the most regal athlete I’ve ever been around.

I know Hakeem would get his a— handed to him by Moses Malone at the old Fonde Rec center day after day in the summers to get better.
One last thing, main reason the Hakeem/Rockets issues were solved is Bc former owner Charlie Thomas and Dream talked over a long flight to Japan

Tillman Fertitta has to say something publicly. Hopefully, he will if he hasn’t already, say something to James.
And don’t trade Harden until you get the right deal.
I don’t care if he’s miserable or not. Hell, we’re all miserable at this point for a variety of reasons.

Harden can withstand a little bit more misery.
It’s the last thing he can do for a city he proclaims to love.
