I got into academia to write books about interesting things.

I didn’t get into academia to co-create trans-disciplinary networks / interactive websites / immersive digital experiences about things I neither care nor understand.

Solo-authored books are still valuable dammit!
I genuinely find future research landscape stuff terrifying.

I’m really good at writing books on my own or with a mate. The books do well. I’m rubbish at building interdisciplinary research teams to solve global challenges. I think I joined academia a generation too late.
“Who are your research project partners?” “Do you have buy in from end users?” “How will your research make/save money?”

Go away.
