✍ | Real Madrid transfer policy:

Let's discuss one of the weirdest things to happen at clubs history, because the planning and expectations aren't on the same wavelength — there are issues that need fixing & change of direction.

[THREAD]
✍ | 2018 – Zidane's exit.

Bale & Cristiano publicly came out asking to leave. Ronaldo was allowed & Bale wasn't. Zidane had already made decision to leave & h3 suggested that club signs Sadio Mané – given reports, he had verbal agreement with player already.
✍ | Zidane return:

The coach went & came back in less than a season worth, Julen Lopetegui & Santiago Solari failed to make best of a squad that was weakened & Perez called upon Zizou for his return.
✍ | The in-between:

Cristiano is Irreplaceable. Fact. But saying the clichés like he should've been replaced is a must here — in terms of squad planning.

Instead, Madrid opted for a more youth side of signings, Vinícius, Rodrygo, Militão, Jović, Reinier etc.
✍ | 300M+ spent – 2 starters:

Real Madrid signed only 2 bona-fide World Class footballers with a lot of money, the Ballon d'Or level Hazard & one of best LBs in the world, Ferland Mendy.

Was it enough?
✍ | An aging core:

Real Madrid's core is over 30 years old in average, besides the rise of Federico Valverde, they would normally employ one of the oldest squads in La Liga & trying to get best of them is hard — it's rather dangerous approach.
✍ | Unbalanced squad:

The players are either "too old" or "too young" and it's hardly any middle ground, some well established footballers who have experience but also years left — which is something Zidane requested.
✍ | Zidane dilemma:

It's hard to blame the coach for not playing and developing all the youngsters but this is an impossible mission:

Real Madrid requires trophies, those youngsters won't bring them so he opted to use the old guard for results.

2 trophies so far.
✍ | What is next?

Clarify your plan. Either turn into Ajax/Dortmund being competitive but not reaching much until the young player are ready — therefore hire a coach to develop them OR

Sign necessary players to compete in all fronts – experienced & good enough footballers.
✍ | How to do it?

Cash in. Sell majority of investments made in last few years, increase the cash flow & probably risk a higher debt to make club more successful and competitive.

That way Real Madrid can use a more depressed market to make the necessary changes to the club.
✍ | Mbappé or Haaland:

2 players than can fix Madrid offensive structure for a long time — do they not suffer unfortunate injuries & manage to maintain their level — like anythose remains gambles & you never know how it turns out.
✍ | Increase midfield depth with quality:

Players like Paul Pogba & Aouar will be available throughout the summer — no reason for Madrid not to chase one of the two as both have the necessary skill-set to improve Madrd and add depth.
✍ | Florentino Perez must back-up the manager properly.

Given how season shaped up – Madrid must already start planning their budget, targets & possibly a debt that needs to be taken in order to fund the transfers.

Make your transfer decisions with the coach.
✍ | Sell the players that coach doesn't want & hope some players remain valuable.

Jović, Militão, Marcelo, Isco, Mariano (etc), could all be valuable players to sell and get necessary money to try and amortize some deals.

Doesn't mean u fix everything in one summer – do basics
