I’ve spent a lot of time with the idea of unity in mind and understanding Trump supporters frustrations with our government and how there are real problems that need to be solved and we need to unite and solve them. But I realized last night that..

I don’t know any trump supporters who have truly been affected by everything that’s happened in the last year aside from being inconvenienced. I myself personally do not know any that have been affected.

They all still have their jobs they all still have their homes they’re able to go out and buy a bunch of guns and stock up on toilet paper and fill up their houses with all these supplies for “the storm”

Millions have lost their jobs are facing eviction and/or can’t feed their families. But I don’t know any Trump supporters dealing with any of that. They just have to wear masks and deal with all the Covid shit

They have no desire to actually listen to the people who are legitimately suffering and struggling in this country. They would rather continue to believe that it is whatever the boogeyman of the day is pulling all the strings

Whether that bogeyman is the government or the Democrats or reptilian aliens or elite pedophiles or the Chinese or the deep state or communists or George Soros or whatever.

They think someone is pulling all the strings and staging everything because it’s easier for them to wrap their mind around than the truth is. Systemic racism is real. Our police force is infiltrated with white nationalist.

Our current republican party caters to and panders to the white supremacists nazis. And they straight up lie to their constituents and convince them that America is a great place that should stay just the way it is.

The problem is not the left refusing to hear out the Trump supporters. The problem is that the Trump supporters would rather make up crazy ridiculous insane conspiracies then to actually try to understand the legitimate issues going on in America.

And so I am done. I very much hope that more people who support trump come out of the cult and see things how they are. But I’m not trying to understand them anymore.

The bad guy isn’t just the guy doing the bad stuff. The people who stand by and do nothing are just as complicit. And if you still support trump at this point you are either a shitty person or you’re complicit.

I have no idea how we’re supposed to unite when nearly half the country lives in an alternate reality
