I think emotional competency should be a mandated ongoing course within the K-12 curriculum. People don’t know how to adequately deal with their emotions and to assume that everyone should (off the rip) is silly.
However, it’s no ones responsibility to teach another how to manage their emotions (arguably maybe parents/ direct support staff).
I think this curriculum should focus on rejection, grief, anger management. I think not enough people know how to deal with rejection as they would like to believe and it shows.
I think the three can be interconnected although not mutually exclusive.
I think there is a correlation between many psycho affective disorders and the lack of coping skills. And if people are taught it adequately we will see the rates of the inflicted decrease
