The latest Labour lobby huddle with Keir Starmer's spokesperson!

Confirmed Labour supports what the government has put forward for vaccine priority groups. Keir doesn't agree with early vaccines for MPs.
Keir wants the rules to be tightened – which ones? "The restrictions in place are not the same as last March." Spox highlights that Keir has asked whether nurseries should still be open, number of people still traveling to work, estate agents still showing people around houses.
Also says the government needs to look at making face masks in supermarkets mandatory.
Should UK be pursuing Zero Covid strategy? "The ultimate aim at the moment needs to be to get control of the virus, protect the NHS, get the vaccine rolled out as soon as possible."
Would Keir welcome Marcus Rashford joining Labour? "Keir would welcome anyone joining the Labour Party if they shared the party’s ambitions. MR has done an extraordinary campaign, but also so have the parents that have been affected by this."
Is MR doing a better job than Keir at opposing govt? "Marcus Rashford is doing an extraordinary job speaking up for parents and young people who have been failed by this government, and this is an issue that Keir has been pushing hard on too."
Why did Keir make the freedom of movement pledge when he knew FOM was going to end? Was it just to hoover up Remain Labour votes? "When Keir made those comments, we were still negotiating the future arrangements. We didn’t know the deal that the government was going to have."
"What he set out on Monday was the reality, which is that the deal the government secured with the EU is the deal that we would inherit in government, and it's incumbent on the Labour Party to make that deal work."
Should May elections be pushed back a month? "Countries across the world have held elections during this pandemic and it's surprising that the govt is only now realising that it may not be able to hold them in May. It's not like these elections weren't known."
But he would back delay? "Ultimately this is in the hands of the government and if they take the decision we will respect that, but the decision to delay is a political one and a failure of proper preparedness."
Would Keir welcome Blair's return to frontline Labour politics? "TB has played a really important role in the last couple of months in terms of putting forward proposals for how the government can improve its testing system and roll out the vaccine."
Do they speak? "Yes, they speak." Weekly? "I’m not going to get into that but yes they speak, like Keir speaks to all former leaders of the Labour Party." (Cue lots of qs from journalists asking whether that applies to Corbyn.)
Is a shad cab member being sent to Biden inauguration? "No plans to do so at this stage not least because of the ongoing pandemic and travel restrictions."
Does Keir agree with Ian Austin that there are similarities btwn Capitol rioters and Corbyn supporters? "I think the scenes in America last week were horrific and Keir was very quick to condemn. I haven’t seen Ian’s remarks, but I don’t think there is a comparison there."
