It's one thing for the incoming @JoeBiden admin to announce they're releasing all the #vaccine doses...to fix the problems that the Trump administration created with rollout...

It's another entirely for Trump's HHS Sec @SecAzar to announce the same thing...

1/
Right now, an estimated 9.3 million doses of vaccine have been turned into vaccinations--delivered into peoples' arms...of 25 million doses that have been released.

If you're doing the math, that's ~1/3 of released doses turned into vaccinations.

All on Trump's watch.

2/
Why? Because this administration has fundamentally failed the LAST MILE problem.

They've, in effect, left vaccine on the doorstep of overworked, understaffed, under-resourced state & local health depts & health systems w/o any real investment, guidance, or support for them.

3/
That means that 63% of our vaccine stock has been left sitting in freezers (or worse, out of freezers) while every community is left to figure out how to deploy it on its own.

So how does DOUBLING the available vaccine stock solve the LAST mile problem?

It doesn't.

4/
This is a PR stunt. With 6 days left on the clock, they won't be able to do anything about the whole vaccine pipeline they failed to manage.

This is just a poor attempt to save face and undercut the incoming administration in one move.

5/
Why is it different than the Biden team's plan?

Well, releasing the available doses wasn't the only change in policy--it's one of many designed to address the whole vaccine pipeline, including the last mile.

And tho they've got to act fast--they do have more than 6 days.
