A bit of fun for this week's #WednesdayWritingTips.
Let's play Writer Archetypes.
You'll probably fall into a few of these, but often one is more 'you' overall. For extra fun, you can always RT the one you identify with most! This is just a small selection. Feel free to add!
THE DREAMER
Comes up with loads of ideas easily - notebooks full of pitches/titles/opening spreads.
Strength: Inspiration
Flaw: Never starts/finishes anything
Remedy: Set goals/deadlines. Plan out a story to motivate finishing something.... anything!

THE SPRINTER
Writes quickly; finishes books easily.
Strength: Never bored; motivated; often self-confident.
Flaw: Can miss subtle details, e.g. scene-setting, description, emotional connection.
Remedy: In draft 2, look at places to slow down & expand.

THE DOUBTER
Unsure if they can ever be a (successful) writer
Strength: Keen to learn - may feel craft/talent is underdeveloped
Flaw: Lacks confidence to write/submit- self-fulfilling prophecy
Remedy: Set achievable targets. Remember why writing is important

THE PLANNER
Will happily plan/research for days/years & not write a single word
Strength: Eye for detail; logical thinker; great at world-building
Flaw: Sometimes held back by fear. Can get overwhelmed
Remedy: Set a limit on research/planning time. Jump in!

THE DRIFTER
Starts off writing well but loses focus easily. Has many half-finished texts
Strength: Enthusiastic & inspired
Flaw: Unfocused. Can become disillusioned at lack of progression
Remedy: Plan before writing to help focus. Make self accountable

THE JUGGLER
Loves having different projects on the goal. Wants to do them all.
Strength: Motivated; enthusiastic; confident
Flaw: Can take on too much & never finish anything
Remedy: Get organised. Work out what is doable. Set goals/deadlines to progress.

THE PROCRASTINATOR
Does a million other things instead of tackling a blank page/editing
Strength: Great at social interaction on Twitter
Flaw: Lacks discipline & wastes time
Remedy: Allow allocated time for distractions then push on. Reward self for progress
