A lot has been already said today on @liammannix piece on call for a pause to #AstraZeneca #COVID19 vaccine roll out in Australia from @ASImmunology (Please see the clarification here https://www.immunology.org.au/blogs/Latest-News/ASI-Media-Release-Clarification-from-ASI-in-response-to-comments-published-in-The-Age-and-the-SMH/) https://www.theage.com.au/national/scientists-call-for-pause-on-astrazeneca-vaccine-rollout-20210112-p56tjt.html
The bottom line is:
1/ Astra vaccine is safe and efficacious (60 to 90%), sufficient to prevent COVID19 transmission (more data awaiting from phase 3)
2/ Astra vaccine combined with Moderna and Pfizer will provide sufficient protection to limit #COVID19 transmission
1/ Astra vaccine is safe and efficacious (60 to 90%), sufficient to prevent COVID19 transmission (more data awaiting from phase 3)

3/ There is a balance in the number of doses available to roll out vs efficacy. Both vaccines have their advantages & drawbacks (not black & white) Indeed Pfizer vaccine is more efficacious but less doses available and more difficult to manufacture -> should go to priority groups
4/ Another important dimension is the availability of vaccine worldwide. Some countries heavily affected from #COVID19 should get the Pfizer vaccine in priority. In Australia we are in incredibly lucky & the use of both vaccine will enable us to reduce COVID19 transmission
Final point: I will have no hesitation or whatsoever to get immunized with Astra vaccine rather than nothing.
