A sneak peak inside the palace with the takht of the Nawab of the Princely state, with the picture of Nawab Sadiq with the then viceroy from 1924.
Another picture with the darbar in session and the next showing the flag of the state on the left and the black one of the state army on right.
So back to it, Bahawalpur was the 2nd largest state in the sub-continent, having its own postal service and military. The state was established in 1802 by Nawab Mohammad Bahawal Khan II after the termination of the Durrani empire.
It was the first state to join Pakistan. The Nawab gave seventy million rupees to the government and the salaries of all the government departments for one month were also drawn from the treasury of Bahawalpur state.
Before this, Nawab received 52000
from British govt in 1946 for participation in WW2 which he gave to Jinnah for Pakistan Movement.

Among the Nawab Sadiq‘s many contributions to education were donation of his property to the University of the Punjab, King Edward Medical College and the Mosque of Aitchison College, Lahore.
The last one was Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V who ruled from 1907 to 1955, who succeeded his father at the age of 3!
