Dunno what'll happen to United from here, but wherever it goes from here, it's worth noting that Ole has built a far, far better team than either Van Gaal or Mourinho managed, with less money and while clearing up their messes. Maybe he knows something?
Obviously United got a lot better when Bruno arrived, but for those arsed to notice there were signs and improvements well before that – there were some good attacking displays, some good tactical calls and various players improving. It didn't happen by chance.
The team has now been winning games consistently for a year, and for the most part doing it playing fast, attacking, exciting football. It's not all the way there yet, but you can legitimately look forward to watching United play again ,and that's not been the case since Fergie.
On top of which, Ole has also overhauled the way United find young players. Even if he gets sacked tomorrow, we'll be enjoying aspects of the work he's done for the next 10 years. And wait till you see the players climb rope, use the cage and play benchball!
In some ways, last night's performance was one of the most telling under Ole and reminded me of the one against Everton in the League Cup. At Goodison, they started well, didn't get discouraged when they didn't score, saw out a tricky bit, then forced the win at the end.
Last night they took longer to get going but hung in in the meantime, then took over to the extent that a goal was inevitable. That stuff doesn't happen when you have good individuals, it happens when you've got a good team.
Even if they don't know why they lost. Must be out of practice.
