Here's a question, gardening twitter: if everyone is so absolutely against sowing seeds in January, why do seed packs say 'sow indoors Jan - March' on them? People who don't know what they're doing will follow instructions on the pack and won't know any better
Doesn't mean we have to take the high horse and get all snooty. If people want to learn how to grow we should be there to guide & support them. I follow instructions on seed packs but also know I've got two months to do more if any fail
Newbies however might do everything by the letter, and then fail, and then get disheartened, and then give up.
Can't help but feel like there's a divide of people - there's no harm in trying, there's no harm in getting a head start, most plants recover from being leggy, and there's also no harm experimenting
I sowed parsnip in Oct for example and they're still at seedling stage now but who gives a f, after 11 years I'm still learning, so how do you think total newbs feel?
Ugh. Rant over. Sick of the garden food growing snobbery on here. Let people live and try things.
