Given the horrific events of last week, I’m hearing new calls for unification rather than a retreat to our respective political corners. As LD 17 Dem Dist Chair, I generally support this notion. As fellow countrymen/ women, we have SO MANY uniquely American values in common.

I’m more than willing to extend an open hand and heart to those who may not agree with me (or the Dem Party) on every policy issue. The search for common ground and true healing should be a key objective for all of us who truly love and respect this democratic experiment of ours.

This said, I want to be very clear. If you refuse to see the core humanity of so many Americans simply due to the color of one’s skin, religious prefs, country of origin, or sexual orientation/ identity... I have absolutely ZERO desire in making any overtures towards unification.
