Remember that the people who say this genuinely believe that they have nothing to hide and nothing to fear online. Even *believing* this is an enormous privilege, and far from recognising this, they're demanding that the world is rearranged for their personal comfort https://twitter.com/Schneider_CM/status/1349025916857569283
People like @Schneider_CM feel absolutely comfortable broadcasting under their real name their contempt for victims of domestic abuse, LGBT people, minorities, dissidents, and almost anyone who'd prefer to be able to talk freely without having to worry they'll be fired or worse
Make no mistake, this is a form of censorship. If Twitter were forced tomorrow to put your full legal name and address by every post, would you say anything at all? I certainly wouldn't.
All of a sudden, every man who's ever sent me a creepy DM has everything they need to stalk me, and an employer just needs to do a search to find that I'm in a trade union, or that I'm LGBT, and I'm sure they could find a deniable pretext in other posts.
