📢 Ripping up the playbook 📢

2.5 years ago we were at a friend's birthday dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

It came up in conversation that we were leaving Dallas after 3 years.

A dinner guest asked us what we were going to do.

I replied '...We don't know!'

⬇️⬇️⬇️
There was a moment of like hushed disbelief.

Me and my wife were both leaving our jobs+finishing up the lease on our rental.

In a month we were leaving Dallas.

We weren't sure where we were going but we were sure our dream life was not in Dallas.
We had researched for a year where we were going and I had an interview for a job in Virginia.

Ironically the riots in Charlottesville had grabbed our attention. Beside the mayhem, the state looked like a good fit for us.

The day we packed up our U-Haul, literally....
I got a call offering me the job.

It was a HUGE decision.

We were driving back to Phoenix to stay with family.

Virginia would be living between family in Arizona and Ireland.

It was a stressful few days gaming out the move.

It was a stressful plan and move....
in general.

The short story is we said we would give it a year. If we liked it, we would stay, if not, we would go.

That was Dec 2018. We bought our house in Jan 2020.

Going back to that dinner conversation.

Those fellow parents in their 30's couldn't believe what we ....
were doing.

Leaving two great jobs. Lots of great friends. The life we had built over 3 years.

But it wasn't close to what we wanted for our family.

Making that leap into the unknown was scary but exciting.

My mindset is always that it will work out. Some ppl call it...
Abundance.

I believe if you are decent people and you take calculated risks, it pays off.

We are now living a dream in the Virginian countryside, great jobs and great friends. Boys love it

I will always encourage people to take a leap of faith on things you would love to do.
There is a lot more that went into this story but my message is that if you want to build a dream life, you are going to have to take risks, endure stress and difficult times.

In the end though, it's going to be all the sweeter for the hardship.

Good luck to *you* in getting
to where you want to be!!!
