Here’s a map of D.C.
(Thread)
Here’s the Ellipse, where Trump spoke, and the Capitol.
There’s about two miles in between.
That’s a 45 minute walk. (And yes, everyone did walk because roads were blocked off)

At 12:00 p.m. EST, Trump began his speech at the Ellipse.
At 12:30 p.m. crowds began to gather at the Capitol.
It’s a 45 minute walk (at least), so they would’ve had to have left the Ellipse 15 minutes before Trump began speaking.

Just something to consider, what Trump supporters do you know of that would skip seeing the President speak to riot at the Capitol?
Anyway. We’ll continue.
Anyway. We’ll continue.
At 1 p.m., rioters stormed the barricade outside of the Capitol, just ten minutes before Trump ended his speech.
At 1:10 p.m., Trump finished his speech. The protest had already turned violent at the Capitol, before the president even finished.
Early in the speech, he is quoted saying, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully & patriotically make your voices heard.”
He closed with, “We’re going to the Capitol. We’re going to try and give them [Republicans] the kind of pride and boldness they need to take back our country.”
It wasn’t until 1:30 p.m. that supporters began marching towards the Capitol.
CSPAN reported rioters in Statutory Hall at 1:33 p.m., well before anyone could’ve heard the end of Trump’s speech and walked to the Capitol.
