My top 10 favorite Hip-Hop albums of all time

A THREAD:
10. AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP - A$AP Rocky

This project is the definition of what psychedelic rap should be. Song after song, Rocky's addictive flow on top of dreamy production makes listening to this album a true, out of the world experience.
Rocky was in his bag while making this, one of the best albums from the 2010's. Not many have the ability to replicate what Rocky did on this project. I hope to see more artists go in a similar direction and give us albums with this type of aesthetic.

Favorite Song: Excuse Me
9. Operation: Doomsday - MF DOOM

This was the late MF DOOM's first release under the alias. From the never before seen samples of classic 60's cartoons, to the beautiful production by metal finger DOOM himself, this album is a result of peak creative genius.
A popular critique of this project is the poor mixing, but I feel like that adds a layer of rawness to it and doesn't take away from any of the standout qualities. This will forever be a legendary album.

Favorite Song: Rhymes Like Dimes
8. ASTROWORLD - Travis Scott

This is one of the most well done experimental trap projects we've ever gotten. Travis does an incredible job at mixing in elements of trap, cloud rap, and psychedelic music, which resulted in a real rollercoaster ride of an album. (Fits the title)
From the overall experience, the diversity Travis displays, the beautiful production, and the guest appearances from big name artists, Astroworld was the best first listen I've ever had, and it only gets better each time.

Favorite Song: ASTROTHUNDER
7. Graduation - Kanye West

Graduation is definitely Kanye's most overlooked album because of how strong his discography is. This was a very risky project for Ye at the time because of what the popular sound was, but he made it work perfectly.
From the stellar production to the iconic tracks, Kanye gave us one of the best "pop rap" albums of the century. Before anyone says it, no, Barry Bonds and Drunk & Hot Girls are not skips.

Favorite Song: I Wonder
6. Flower Boy - Tyler, the Creator

This was Tyler's attempt to break out of a shell of his former self. His 4 projects before brought him his most loyal fans, but also his biggest haters. Flower Boy was a moment in his career where Tyler told the world that there is more to
him than just edgy/grimey bars and a mellow, monotone flow. Focused around themes of loneliness, isolation, and self doubt, Tyler gave us a record that really resonated with me and the majority of his fanbase. Flawless album.

Favorite Song: See You Again || 911 / Mr. Lonely
5. Nothing Was The Same - Drake

Drake set the bar exceptionally high with his album "Take Care", and as all of us know, he delivered. This project exemplified Drake's raw talent as a vocalist, rapper, and as a creative genius.
His energetic persona mixed with the introspective side he possesses made for a truly exceptional project. This record is an example of Drake at his absolute best. The man really gave us two back to back classics.

Favorite Song: Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2
4. Late Registration - Kanye West

I believe that his sophomore release is Kanye at his best when it comes to pure rapping and telling stories. Until "Ye", this was Kanye's most vulnerable project and he really got to show us a side of him we didn't get to see with TCD.
With songs like "Hey Mama" and "Roses", Kanye really opened up his introspective side, which proved to the world what he was capable of. One of the greatest albums from the 2000's.

Favorite Song: Heard 'Em Say
3. Illmatic - Nas

At the age of 16, the New York emcee writes the greatest Hip-Hop album of all time. Nas gave us some of the best storytelling we've ever heard by way of his incredible penmanship. He did all that on some of the best instrumentals from that period of time.
Influence alone can place Illmatic at the top of the ladder, but there are so many intricate layers to it which all add to the overall beauty of this project. Only one other album hip-hop comes close to Nas' debut album for me.

Favorite Song: The World Is Yours
2. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill - Lauryn Hill

Miseducation is the most perfected fusion of classic R&B and hip-hop that we will ever hear. Lauryn Hill, with this project, paved the way for female rappers in the industry in one way or another.
From her vocal performance to her pure rapping ability, Lauryn provided the world with the most perfect genre blending album that will never be replicated. A timeless classic that will go down in history as one of the greatest works of music ever.

Favorite Song: To Zion
Before anyone says it, i’m aware that Miseducation is a full Hip-Hop album, but it has enough elements of the genre for me to include it in my list.
1. Me Against The World - 2Pac

This album was Tupac showing the world that he is more than just some other rapper. From thug to poet, as they say, he got to prove that he was an incredible writer and a genius when it came to articulating the messages he wanted to tell the world
With his previous projects, we saw the gangster side of him, but MATW redefined him and his sound. One of the greatest Hip-Hop albums ever created, a true literary masterpiece.

Favorite Song: F**k The World
