Interesting article from @liammannix and @aishamae today, a lot to unpack, time for a little thread! #COVID19Aus

1) Yes Pfizer vaccine is more effective and it will be used for priority groups in Oz, which is excellent. But it's distribution does have logistical issues, will be very important to see if this efficacy holds up, time is on our side here...
2) The complete information provided to the TGA is much, much more detailed that what we have seen in press release/publication. And that full data can be enlightening.

3) And this is a great thread from @peripatetical

4) As @GregHuntMP stated in the article the AZ vaccine was selected by medical experts and we have capacity to manufacture this vaccine locally. I will admit it is not my favourite candidate (see next tweet!) but I look forward the TGA decision once they see all the data
5) It is great news that @healthgovau has finalised an agreement for 51 million doses of the Novavax vaccine, the early immunogenicity and safety data looked great..there is twitter chatter about very high interim efficacy results from trials, but I will wait for the data!
6) Finally we need to be good global citizens. Australia had 5 cases yesterday, the US+UK combined had over 250,000. That is where the most effective vaccines should be going first; until we control spread in high burden countries we will forever remain at the mercy of the virus
