1) The decision by GOP Conf Chair Liz Cheney to impeach the President is monuental in scope.

First, you have the third-highest ranking Republican in the House saying she will vote to impeach a Republican President.
2) Second, this represents a major break with the rest of the GOP brass and many rank and file Republicans who have offered platitudes about the President or tried to turn things around on Democrats, saying we need “healing” or that Democrats were pushing too hard to impeach.
3) Third, Cheney is tactically positioning herself as a threat to McCarthy and Scalise in leadership. They got too close to the President. The President essentially ordered a raid on the Capitol. McCarthy and Scalise could be seriously damaged goods here.
4) Does the GOP, moving forward, truly want to still associate itself with President Trump? Or, do other GOPers follow the lead of Cheney? This is laced with serious, fractional politics for the GOP as well as dictating the next steps as to where the party goes in ldrshp races
