Geoff Johns’s creative meddling in the DC films.

(A thread)
Before the Green Lantern shills hop on my nuts about this, I’m gonna be as objective as possible and back myself with facts and evidence.
Even as early as back in 2011-2012 when Man Of Steel was in production, Johns had tried intervening and taking it to the higher ups regarding his concerns on the direction of the film but was ignored.
A lot of the change and shift in direction on part of Johns seemingly happened AFTER he became DC President.
In the post-production of Suicide Squad, Johns came and worked in the editing room for that film which broke Ayer’s timeline like Harley being responsible for the death of Robin.
He rewrote pages on the fly for Ayer to reshoot when the film had already wrapped filming, with the knee jerk reaction by WB at the time which minimized and cut down a lot of what David filmed.
Another known instance was Rick Famuyiwa at the time who was hired to direct Flash. Johns.

It’s said that he wanted real world politics which were deemed too “edgy” by the current regime.
This lines up with a clear mandate of GJ making it clear that he was pushing aggressively for a DC universe with “hope” and “optimism,” at the time of him being promoted to DC President.
I also want to point out Famuyiwa was hired to direct THE FLASH a month before Geoff Johns had been promoted to DC President.
Geoff Johns even admitted to pushing his perspective on DC characters to filmmakers, and how his writing of these characters gave him “credibility.”
Famuyiwa also threw shade to the regime when the Black Panther numbers came out and Justice League was a financial disaster.
It’s also interesting to note that Black Panther got critical praise for its themes whereas he wasn’t allowed to explore those on Flash.

It was even scheduled to release weeks after Black Panther in March 2018.
On Aquaman, Wan was hired AND had originally pitched it as a horror film inspired by John Carpenter and James Cameron which didn’t reflect the final product aside from a sequence.

Johns pushed for Black Manta which Wan wasn’t sure would work and wasn’t sure about including in the film.
NOW.

Onto Justice League, there were reports which were confirmed that GJ was rewriting pages on the fly which even annoyed Chris Terrio.

Zack Snyder even confirmed that there were scenes and lines he was forced to shoot which he is now cutting out and replacing with scenes he shot simultaneously from his original script.

2/2.
Jay Oliva even came in during production to help with storyboarding action scenes which was met with pushback from Johns.
In regards to Whedon's involvement in Justice League, Johns admitted that he got Joss on board to help write scenes for Justice League even prior to Zack's departure around when Joss was only involved in Batgirl around the time.
At Justice Con, Zack even said himself he wasn’t involved in picking Joss to take over, completely contradicting reports that Zack handpicked him to finish it.
Whedon was even said to be Johns’s “secret weapon” when working on JL.
And now here we are. When Zack was interviewed early in 2020 for a book, there were two topics he chose not to discuss.

And this is where I’ll leave it.
