A Soudcloud star that’s still shining.⭐️

Michael Lamar White IV, known professionally as Trippie Redd was born on June 18, 1999, in Canton, Ohio. His father, Michael Lamar White III, was in prison at the time of his birth, and his mother, Tonya White, was left to raise him as a single parent.
In 2014 TR sadly lost his older brother due to a fatal car accident, this tragedy arguably shaped and motivated TR to become the person and artist he is today. He paid homage to his late brother on a track called Oomp’s Revenge which is featured on his debut album Life’s a Trip.
Trippie vowed to chase the dream him and his late brother shared and make it big in the music industry, I think his brother would be proud.
His mother was a big music fan and listened to many contemporary artists such as Beyoncé and Tupac. The musical vibes in his house inspired Trippie to become a musician. Over time, he began idolizing artists such as Lil Wayne, KISS, Gucci Mane, and Nirvana.
At the age of 15, he started making music and uploading it online. Two of his early songs that were released online were ‘New Ferrari’ and ‘Sub-Zero.’ While both the songs were successful in the local clubs of Ohio, Trippie was not satisfied with them and later erased them.
Trippie moved to Atlanta and met up with Lil Wop who helped him get into a studio. This eventually led to getting his first record deal and moving to LA to further his career where some controversies started and his music career started to blossom.
The Soundcloud era was Trippies platform to break through and show people what he was capable of. His first SC single ‘Angry Vibes’ gained 100k plays, Trippie also dropped 4 projects on soundcloud early in his career.
In 2017 released his first commercial mixtape, ‘A Love Letter To You’ which featured ‘Love Scars’, ‘Poles 1469’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This was the mixtape that put Trippie Redd on the map and started a series of ALLTY mixtapes.
‘Fuck Love’ was the song that made me personally discover Trippie Redd. At a time where I was hooked on X’s music, Trippie came out of the blue and stunned me with his performance on this song. 267M streams, the most streamed song to ever be released on soundcloud.
At the end of 2017 Trippie dropped ‘A Love Letter To You 2’, the mixtape in my opinion had some great highs but some lows. Trippie definitely displayed his unique vocal range and his rapping ability on the song ‘Hellboy’.
The lows of 2018: Trippie went to jail twice, the first time was when someone came to his home and tried starting trouble and the second was to do with a feud that happened in Atlanta where someone pulled a gun on Trippie and Lil wop....
While this was going on X and Trippies relationship was getting toxic, X found out that trippie was going to feature on Drakes song God’s Plan and they fell out because of this. They thankfully both made up before X’s passing. LLJ
The highs of 2018: Trippie released his 2 best pieces of work in ALLTY3 and LAT. Both projects selling 75k+ in the first week. Trippie worked with the likes of Travis Scott, Young Thug and Juice WRLD and really proved to people that he wasn’t just a soundcloud rapper.
That same year Trippe was an XXL freshman, he elected to only take part in the freestyle and snubbed the cypher because he claimed the beat wouldn’t be good enough, make of that what you will.
2019 he dropped ‘!’, a tribute to X. This album didn’t get great feedback and is regarded as his weakest work, but personally I think it’s a fun album that got more hate than it deserved. That same year ALLTY4 dropped which sold 128k first week.
The passing of Juice WRLD was another death that hit Trippie, the 2 had just started making music together and you could tell their friendship was blossoming. Trippie vowed he would never do hard drugs again. LLJ
‘Pegasus’, an album that Trippie made for his fans that appreciate his music and the path he’s on, an R&B style album that features Lil Wayne one of Trippie’s biggest inspirations. His latest body of work. Another example of how he can switch it up and explore different genres.
2021 is an exciting year for Trippie Redd, his rock album ‘Neon Shark’ is set to drop on the 29th of January and he’s also teased ‘TRIP AT KNIGHT’, the snippets are getting positive feedback and are creating a lot of excitement.
Trippie Redd is 1 of the most versatile ‘rappers’ in hop hop. You can really see that he hasn’t let one genre define his career so far, he’s experimented with different sounds that have received some hate but you can’t deny he’s still relevant and is only going to keep growing.
