Why IDP123

#FFIDP scoring can be a fraught issue. One many disengage from. When they do engage, it's often to share an opinion, not a solution

Generic terms like "tackle heavy" and "big play heavy", are objectively flawed as both the scoring plays and their values are ambiguous
Examples:

What plays are scored in a tackle heavy league?

What plays are scored in a big play heavy league?

What's constitutes a big play? Is it the play itself?

Or the point value of the play that dertimines this?

What's the point value threshold of a "big play"
Inversely what's the value of a tackle in a tackle heavy league?

Is it 1+ pt per tackle?

Are solos and assist always separated?

If so what are solos worth? 1? 1.5? 2? Twice the value of assist?

A % of the values of the still undefined "big plays"?

Is it a range of values?
At what scoring values does a league transition from tackle heavy to big play heavy?

Here's a fun exercise
Is @FantasyPros
IDP scoring big play heavy or tackle heavy?

It's all rather ill defined and vague, at best.

Informed negligence, at worst.
In #IDP123 the defensive plays and their values are defined.

The values for each play are scaled based on onfield impact.

The result is an #IDP scoring system that's simplified, unified and balanced.

IDP players have similar weekly and szn long upside to offensive players!
#IDP123 plays fall into two primary catergories.

Tackles and Impact Plays

A tackle is any defensive stop made by a defender past the line of scrimmage. (DEFINED)

Tackles are high volume, low value plays and are assigned 1 and 2 point values, respectively.
*Impact Plays are (DEFINED) as:

-Results in a net gain of 0 yards by the offense

-Results in negative yards by the offense

-Creates a turnover opportunity

-Results in a turnover

-Results in a defensive score

In #IDP123 impact plays are valued at 3 or more points per play.
1 Point Plays

Assist tackles: a defensive stop by 2 defenders past the line if scrimmage.

QBH: gives some credit for pressures and effecting the QB. People go on and on about the importance of pressures but ACTIVELY promote leagues without QBHs (FP)? Doesn't add up.
2 Point Plays

Solo tackles: a defensive stop by a single defender past the line of scrimmage

*TFL: a solo stop of a defender behind the LOS

*Is considered an Impact Play bc net offesive yds lost AND net value = 4pts (solo + TFL)
*3 Point Plays

*Passed Defended: high skill level play. Results in net gain 0 yards by offense.

*Forced Fumbles: creates a turnover opportunity

*Fumble recovery: is a turnover

*Blocked Kick: is a turnover

*Safety: is a defensive score
*6 Point Plays

*Sacks: results in negative yards by the offense. Is a TFL on a QB, most valuable player in football.

*Interceptions: is a turnover from the most valuable player in football, QB.

*IDP TD: a defensive score of 6pts
