After several months of National Guard mobilizations against BLM protests, federal prosecutions of anti-racist insurgents—not to mention the countless people who continue to be murdered by the police—there is no excuse to support these same actions against your political enemies.
The swift hammer of repression against the far-right is yet another trojan horse smuggling carcerality back into the rebellion which had threatened its regime like nothing in recent memory.
Ultimately, the worst consequence of January 6th is not whatever affective victory it provided the fascists, but the mass affirmation of governance that has occurred in its wake—an affirmation that many of its supposed opponents are complicit in.
