Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin and FBI Washington Field Office ADIC Steven D'Antuono providing an update now on charges related to the Capitol attack: https://www.justice.gov/live
"In 6 days, we have opened over 160 case files, and that's just the tip of the iceberg," D'Antuono says. "Even if you've left DC, agents from our local field offices will be knocking on your door if we found out that you were part of the criminal activity at the Capitol."
D'Antuono says FBI developed and "immediately shared" information regarding potential violence at rally beforehand, "as evidenced by arrest of [Proud Boy] Enrique Tarrio the night before the rally."
Sherwin says "the scope and scale of this investigation and these cases is unprecedented in FBI and perhaps DOJ history," says "everyone is in for the long haul."
Sherwin says his office is "looking at significant felony cases tied to sedition and conspiracy," and marching orders for newly stood up strike force of prosecutors is to build those cases and develop those charges.
Ask what FBI knew before Jan. 6 and what they shared with Capitol Police, FBI's D'Antuono says that prior to Jan. 6 the FBI "received a lot of intelligence" that they shared with Joint Terrorism Task Force in DC (of which Capitol Police is a part)
