People often compare this generation of Indian batsman to SRT/Dravid/Laxman and rate the latter higher. Worth bearing in mind:

1. Bowling quality and depth have improved massively across the world.

2. Conditions are more difficult for batting than the 00s/early10s.
People tend to look at the top 10 bowlers of the previous gen retrospectively and label the previous era "tougher" for batsmen. This is not true.

The quality of the 4th/5th bowler is better. Bowlers are much fitter. And we tend to overrate earlier players by selection bias.
Cummins, Hazlewood, Rabada, Boult, Jamieson, Anderson, Archer, Bumrah, Shaheen, Ashwin, Jadeja are as great as the earlier generation. We just have a habit of mythologising earlier eras for some reason.

Batting is tougher today than 15 years ago.
