Under 2 weeks into 2021 & lawmakers have wasted no time targeting youth who are transgender. THREAD

Two main streams of attack are happening:
1. bills banning athletes who are transgender
2. bills against treating trans youth consistent with prevailing medical standards of care.
As of 1/12, the following states have bills targeting athletes who are transgender:

- Kentucky
- Maine
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- Tennessee
Two states, New Hampshire & Kentucky, include both high school & college sports, so @NCAA schools in these states following the law would be acting against NCAA's guidance on inclusion.
As of 1/11, the following states have bills that would prevent youth who are transgender from receiving care consistent with prevailing medical standards:

- Alabama
- Indiana
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- Texas
- Utah
In Mississippi, this bill would apply to anyone under age 21. In Missouri, New Hampshire & Texas, providing appropriate care would be classified as "Child Abuse."
In Alabama, the bill targeting transgender youth was the very first bill of the session.

Certainly makes me curious about state priorities.
This is just the beginning. Expect more bills across the country targeting athletes and young people who are transgender. Expect them to have similar wording & marketed under "saving" or "protecting" women. Expect a clear lack of facts & data to support such unfounded claims.
