So while I’m in on this zoom call, if anyone needs to know why this vaccine was able to be produced as quickly... it’s because COVID was first seen in about 2009. It appeared but as quickly as it came, there were soon no cases so the research done on it was slowed-
Due to not needing to produce a vaccine. It’s essentially having a car but no driver. There was not a need for it like it is now. COVID appeared again on the tail-end of 2019, we have a driver again. We needed the vaccine and the research that had already done could be utilized.
This vaccine wasn’t rushed. There was already research on it. Granted to mitigate the effects, we need studies fast, but the research on its mechanism was known and then expanded.
Also Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA vaccines. It is not a live virus. Think of it as making sure you’re home to receive a package. You make those adjustments to be prepared to receive something. Granted, no one wants Covid, but this vaccine prepares you just in case
And for Black people, we were included in the studies. Dr. Fauci held the study open as long as he could to have proper representation. We made up 10%. No one has died from the studies. This vaccine can help save lives especially within communities of color
If you have the chance to take this vaccine. Please do so. It is a effective. There will always be some chance of side effects from injection, but death is so low on that list. Please consider it.
Also, regarding the variant strains... there are at least 2 of them (UK AND South African). The vaccines are effective for those strains. These strains have NOT increased mortality. This is a good thing but also difficult if it proves otherwise with more research
Btw, Pfizer and Moderna are made with the same technology so either or should be your preference. The only difference is that for Moderna, you are to be at least 18+ years of age. Pfizer, 16+ years of age
